IAPMO
IAPMO’s Perkins Appears as Guest on Home Talk USA

IAPMO Senior Director of Field Services Dwight Perkins appeared Oct. 29 as a guest on "Cajun Contractor" Michael King's nationally syndicated radio program, "Home Talk USA." Broadcast in 217 radio markets covering all 50 states, the program reaches 6.1 million listeners each week.

Perkins answered King's questions about IAPMO’s Uniform Codes, who and how they protect, why contractors prefer them and how anybody with a stake or interest in shaping the codes can submit their idea for inclusion in them.

“Over half the world’s population is using provisions from the Uniform Plumbing Code as the minimum standards for plumbing installations throughout the world,” Perkins said. “Places like India, China, the Philippines, Indonesia — we’re everywhere.

“The world has become a smaller place with the ability to travel, and when you, Michael, go to China, you want to be able to make sure you’re not going to pick up some disease, you’re going to have safe drinking water when you open the tap or that the plumbing gets flushed in the proper areas when you flush a toilet. So, it’s important that nations use standards and codes that specifically protect the public and that’s one of the roles that we play.”
